I’m Not Needy, I’m Wanty: How to Cherish your Sense of Humor and Tell your Own Story
Gina Barreca

If it’s worth crying over, it’s probably worth laughing at. Cultivating a sense of perspective allows us to see the wider and longer view of the situation, which helps us recognize that although certain situations are unnerving—or even heartbreaking—these might, one day, become the most important stories of our lives.

Glitter & Glue: Words on Women and Family
Kelly Corrigan

Kelly Corrigan’s mother often describes their family as: “Your father’s the glitter, but I’m the glue.” In this presentation, based on her memoir, Glitter and Glue, Corrigan examines why we choose the people we admire and how that changes over time. She looks at the bonds we make throughout our lifetime, between best friends, sisters, mothers and daughters – that are sometimes nourishing, sometimes exasperating and occasionally divine. In this heartfelt speech, Kelly strips away the complexities and emotionally connects who we are with who our parents are, and how this history continues to shape us as we choose those who become our closest friends, as well as the lessons we teach our children about loving and being loved. One of the best storytellers you will hear in your lifetime, Kelly will take you on a moving and humorous journey on finding role models through personal growth.
